Summer Kitchen Bake Shop in Berkeley

Very tender salmon at dinner time. Small dinner room but quick service . lots of order pickups. Tried sparkling wine / rosé. Did not try bakery items yet.

Fantastic place to eat takeout, or in restaurant. Cheap and expensive options are offered, with a full meal of delicious chicken tenders, or on Fridays, spicy chicken and buttermilk chicken, for about 6 dollars. The 12 dollar crispy chicken sandwich is a fantastic option, if you are willing to spend 12 dollars on it. All around amazing restaraunt.

Came here by myself on a busy Friday evening for dinner. It is cafe style. The whole crew was very attentive and took my order promptly. Loved being there. As the cooking areas are basically part of the dining area, you feel like you're sitting in a professional kitchen. There is much to watch. Through the counter glass you can see people passionate about food fixing dishes, sandwichess and pizza. I sat next to the pizza oven and watched the art of pizza making. No timers, no measurements...just sense, feel, and intuition. Anyone who loves cooking will enjoy the show, and maybe even pick up some techniques. House made fennel sausage pizza was amazing.

This is my favorite GO-TO place when I want a delicious meal and don't have time to cook it myself. The dinners are fantastic. My faves right now are the burger and kale caesar salad. The chicken under a brick is amazing, too!

A hidden gem in Berkeley. Chef Paul actually works in his kitchen. A lot of "chefs" with big names in the Bay Area don't work in their kitchens and they're not cooking the food. Chef Paul is involved in every aspect of his kitchen and services. The menu top to bottom is delicious and I've witnessed Chef Paul and his staff preparing most if not all of what's on the menu. Summer Kitchen isn't just a cute name, it's an idea Chef Paul takes seriously, but not too seriously, and he's a pleasure to be around.

Fantastic little place for lunch or dinner. They have great staff and every item on the menu is delicious. Our personal favorites are the mushroom burrata pizza, fried chicken sandwich, any of the dinner entrees, and their desserts! We've been guilty of going there two days in a row. No shame at all.

Perfect old school wood fired Margarita Pizza and a Summer Salad with golden beets. Both were super yummy. Good place to get interesting food done well.

I have been coming to Summer Kitchen since it first opened in 2012. They always have 4 entrees, a few salads and 4 pizza options. Everything is prepared with the utmost care and I have never been disappointed with the quality of their food. Every salad is dressed perfectly and the chefs always put creative spins on classic dishes. Sure, it might seem expensive to pay $20+ for a dinner entree, but it is worth it! Summer kitchen also makes one of the best cupcakes I've ever had, and I am not a cupcake person. Unfortunately on my last visit, I was informed that baked goods are now only a weekend thing.

Came here for a meeting, not knowing what to expect. Easy parking less than a block away. Perfect setup, excellent ambiance, great staff, tasty menu options to choose from and best of all priced just right..Im a burger lover and consider myself a good judge when it comes to a good tasty burger and they delivered! No exaggeration the beef is juicy and the acme bread matches perfectly with the caramelized onions, house made pickles and grain mustard mayonnaise.. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Will be back.

I don't order burgers every time out, as what would the missus make of my ever-inflating spare tire? But happily I made it to the gym last week for a good 42 minutes, so felt a splurge was well-earned.I heard much about Summer Kitchen + Bake Shop 's special cheeseburger and it still blew me away. The patty was juicy and packed with flavor, the veg was crisp and fresh and the Summer Kitchen + Bake Shop bun was golden and perfectly toasted. Only downside was after the first bite, the juice from the patty turned the bottom half of the bun into a soggy mess, so i had to invert the bad boy halfway through to keep the rest in one Summer Kitchen + Bake Shop . Best burger (I've had) in the Bay Area.

Love it here. Great for a quick bite. Great with kids and a glass of wine. Chicken is wonderful. And makes a great quick dinner if you take it to go!

Simple and delightful dishes and atmosphere. Many come for the fried chicken, but I go for the Turkey sandwich, virgin mojito and baked half chicken.

I just had a mind-boggling customer service experience at Summer Kitchen. I'm a bit sad, as this has been one of my go-places for take-out during the pandemic. The story is simple. Discovering at home that a crucial part of my order was missing, I called to tell them. The sole focus of the automaton on the other end of the line was whether the error had actually been mine, not theirs. She nattered on and on defensively, eventually offering a small change credit but never the obvious thing -- a credit for the salad next time. Really? I drove 3 miles to pick up my order and have spent many hundreds of dollars in this place over the last five months. Stunningly petty and unpleasant!

Walked over here to try the pastries and was very disappointed to find that their pastry chef left so they had no sweets :( The (friendly) woman who was working the counter said that it was hit and miss in terms of predicting when exactly their baked goods would return, but that in general, weekends were the only days that were a real possibility. It's hard to be a bake shop without a pastry chef...

This is a small place with a few tables. They do a lot of takeout business for the neighborhood. Very good quality, delicious food, friendly staff. I've been here before, but this time I had the pizza with butternut squash, taleggio cheese, carmelized onions and sage. Yum! Highly recommended.

Oooo, the Egg Salad sandwich! Go get it.

It’s such a gift to the Rockridge area to have Summer Kitchen here. Every dish that comes out from the kitchen is amazing!! Their thin crust pizzas, cauliflower salad and desserts are all my favorites.

Good brick-oven style pizzas. Also, the kale Cesar salad is pretty good, especially when you add crispy fried chicken.

Great pizza and salads! The margherita pizza is light, crispy, and flavorful. Love ordering delivery from here (the restaurant is also a nice place to eat during non-pandemic times).

We had a private pizza making party there with Paul. The pizzas were fabulous! His pizza dough is 2nd to none! His variety of ingredients with the varied spices and sauces made for very distinct pizzas each one very different from the last and just a great eating experience! I highly reccomend it!

Food is bland and overpriced, but a nice place to sit and have a cool drink

I'm a fan of the sandwiches and chocolate cupcakes. The service is also great... sometimes.Sometimes the service can be... not exactly rude... maybe leaving you feel like you were an insignificant passing stone? I guess it's not really a big deal to be talking to someone else as you're handing my change back. Maybe I talk too softly and no one heard me say thanks when handed me my food with zero eye contact. I suppose it's curt and to the point at times.Usually the cashiers are nice though and the food is great. Pricewise, expected for the area.

Just did carry-out, but very satisfied with both the pizza and the salad we ordered. Cute space, fresh ingredients, etc.

Excellent roast chicken soup... perfect for a cold day!
